Presence seeks poems – haiku (including senryu), tanka, renga and related forms – haibun, and relevant essays. All work should be original, unpublished (in print or online, including personal websites, blogs and social media) and not under consideration elsewhere. Please send only one set of submissions per issue in any particular poetic form. Please note that we do not give contributor copies.

Please send only one set of submissions per issue in any particular poetic form: up to 7 haiku (including senryu), 7 tanka, 3 haibun, 3 renga(y) / sequences.

Presence groups poems by the four seasons (and by non-season), and we welcome notes of which season a poem refers to. Please also note any specific formatting details.

The windows for submissions are as follows:

  • for the March issue, 15th December–31st January;
  • for the July issue, 15th April–31st May;
  • for the November issue, 15th August–30th September.

Please do not submit work outside the submission windows. This time is needed for production and distribution purposes, and to give the editorial team a bit of a break.
